The Cargo Express EX DLX and the Haulmark Passport Deluxe are both entry-to-mid level enclosed cargo trailers, but they have a few key differences that matter depending on what you’re prioritizing (durability, budget, long-term use, etc.).

Cargo Express EX DLX

  • Manufacturer: Cargo Express (part of Novae Corp.)

  • General Vibe: Budget-friendly, practical, slightly heavier-duty than basic entry-level models.

  • Frame: Depending on the size of the trailer, the DLX starts at a 4″ frame & goes up to a 6″ steel frame.

  • Exterior: Semi-screwless aluminum (fewer screws, cleaner look but still some exposed).

  • Skin Thickness: Standard, .030 gauge aluminum (common for the price point).

  • Floor: 3/4″ engineered wood high-performance OSB (depending on year and upgrades).

  • Walls: 3/8″ engineered wood high-performance OSB (standard for Cargo Express trailers).

  • Ramp Door: Ramp Standard or Double Doors optional (stronger spring assist than Haulmark in many cases).

  • V-Nose: Standard on most models (helps slightly with towing and gas mileage).

  • Warranty: 3-Year Limited Warranty (industry standard for a “deluxe” value trailer).

  • Fit and Finish: Good for a value trailer — not luxury, but dependable.

  • Axles: Usually Lippert spring axles.

  • Strength: Meant to be a little more “jobsite-ready” or DIY hauler-ready right off the bat.

Haulmark Passport Deluxe

  • Manufacturer: Haulmark (owned by American Cargo Group).

  • General Vibe: Higher-end entry-level, more polished brand perception than Cargo Express.

  • Frame: 3″ or 4″ steel frame depending on size. A bit lighter than Cargo Express.

  • Exterior: Screwless or semi-screwless exterior depending on the upgrade — slightly cleaner looks overall compared to EX DLX.

  • Skin Thickness: Starts at .024 aluminum (MOST times upgraded to .030 gauge).

  • Floor: 3/4″ PlexCore™ high-performance engineered flooring (a little nicer than basic OSB).

  • Walls: 3/8″ PlexCore™ sidewall panels (stronger and smoother finish than standard OSB).

  • Ramp Door: Optional, spring-assisted ramp doors.

  • V-Nose: Only available if you add it as an option; not standard like Cargo Express.

  • Warranty: 1-Year Limited Warranty.

  • Fit and Finish: A little tighter and more refined than the EX DLX out of the box.

  • Axles: Dexter brand spring axles.

If you need a quick recommendation:

  • If you’re hauling equipment, tools, heavy stuff, or want the most “grit for your money,” go with the Cargo Express EX DLX.

  • If you’re hauling personal items, motorcycles, doing light duty moving, or care a lot about appearance, the Haulmark Passport Deluxe might be better.
